George Carlin

I was first introduced to the late, great comic, George Carlin by my brother, who discovered one of his record albums.

Some of my favorite Carlin routines:

Wonderful WINO radio….”And now the high school basketball scores….(chorus sings, High School Basketball!)”

Al Sleet, the “hippie-dippie weatherman.”  Tonight’s forecast; Mostly dark… continued dark throughout the evening with some widely scattered light towards morning.”

And, of course, those seven dirty words you can never say on television.

Carlin was born in New York and raised in the Catholic religion.  Here’s what he once said about religion:

“Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man – living in the sky – who watches everything you do, every minute of every day.  And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.  And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ‘till the end of time!  But, he loves you!”
